The Pavilion, designed for the London Festival of Architecture in 2019, was an installation that explored the theme of boundaries and their significance, particularly in the context of Brexit and wider global political issues. Our response to the brief was to establish a sense of connection, counteracting divisions and conflicts by designing a link between two points.

In line with our commitment to sustainability, we approached the construction process with an eco-friendly mindset. We aimed to create a structure that could be reused in one of our future projects. To achieve this, we used standard-sized timber joists, commonly employed in roof and wall construction, avoiding any cutting or waste.

The pavilion’s structure consisted of interconnected, uncut joists forming a curved sequence in both plan and section. This arrangement provided structural rigidity while producing a stable, elegant sculptural form. The timber joists were later reused in our project Station House, demonstrating a practical application of sustainable design principles
